The College application process can be overwhelming and intimidating for both parents and students. There are a myriad of decisions, conflicting information, and as a result the stress level tends to be high. This informative lecture on "College Planning Road Map - Junior Class" will provide the attendees with an understanding of the application process for the Junior Class, and how to reduce the stress of getting through it all.

2025-2026 Principal’s Coffee #1

MVHS hosted the first Principal’s Coffee of the school year, and it was a wonderful success! Parents gathered for an engaging one-hour session sponsored by MVPTSA, where the Principal and school staff (School Principal, Assistant Principals, School Counselors, College & Career Advisor, Wellness Specialist, School Based Therapists, School Psychologists, and Speech Language Pathologist) shared school updates and answered questions on topics important to our community. This long-standing tradition continues to foster open communication and build strong connections among parents, staff, and school leadership. We appreciate all who attended and look forward to more meaningful conversations throughout the year.

Any Monta Vista staff member or student who wishes to address a need that will enhance the overall educational experience or developmentally appropriate climate at Monta Vista is encouraged to apply for PTSA funding.

Reflections Contest 2025-2026
“I Belong!” is the theme for the 2025-26 Reflections Art Program, which has been bringing the arts to life for more than 10 million students since 1969.

Reflections encourages students of all ages to:
Unleash creative talents and be inspired
Express themselves imaginatively in their artwork
Experience the fun and joy of making art
Tap into critical thinking skills to create art inspired by the annual theme
Receive positive recognition for their original works of art.

All students attending PTA schools sponsoring the program are invited to participate and submit original artwork in one of six areas:

Dance Choreography
Literature
Photography
Film Production
Music Composition
Visual Arts

Artworks are submitted first to school-level PTAs, where they are first recognized, celebrated and judged by five grade-level divisions, the Special Artists division celebrates student artists with special needs. School PTAs then choose a selection of entries to be judged by local PTA units, which are then sent on to councils and then districts for consideration. The final artworks submitted to California State PTA by districts are then considered for Outstanding Interpretation, Awards of Excellence or Awards of Merit. Outstanding Interpretation and Award of Excellence entries then go on to represent California in the final National PTA judging round.

Highlights of events

Welcome Back Breakfast – A Warm Start to the New School Year

Monta Vista High School PTSA hosted our annual Welcome Back Breakfast for the amazing MVHS staff. It was a wonderful way to welcome our teachers back and show our appreciation for all that they do.

Around 150 staff joined us for a morning of great food and warm smiles. This year, we introduced some new menu items, including a few homemade treats like Chia puddings and smoothies. Since we weren’t sure about everyone’s taste preferences, we only made a small batch — but they turned out to be a big hit and were well-loved by many staff ! Many staff shared how much they enjoyed the variety and appreciated the thoughtful effort behind the event.

All of the food was provided through generous parents' donations. Monta Vista parents donated the food and the cash. PTSA used these donations to supply the rest of the breakfast, making the entire event possible. A huge thank you to all the donations and our dedicated volunteers, — your help made all the difference, and the event couldn’t have happened without you.
