Upcoming Events
  • The Cupertino Youth Activity Board (YAB) is partnering with the nonprofit Counseling and Support Service for Youth (CASSY) to host InfoTeeno: Mental Health--a new webinar series focused on mental health for both students and parents. On Monday, April 12 at 5:00 p.m. CASSY staff is leading an interactive presentation that will give students important coping skills to use during periods of high stress and anxiety. Parents are invited to join the journey on Tuesday, April 13 at 6:30 p.m. where we will be addressing the stigma surrounding mental health and empowering attendees with knowledge on supporting students during their struggles. We hope to bring awareness to this crucial issue, address misconceptions, and expand the mental health toolkit of our community’s families. As an incentive, students who register and attend the Monday session will be automatically entered into a raffle to win a $20 milk-tea gift card. Participants can register for the sessions by visiting bit.ly/InfoteenoMH.

We all want our kids to be happy. But can teenagers managing academic and social pressures, not to mention hormones, during a pandemic find happiness? And is it possible to build habits that will support long-term happiness? Sonja Lyubomirsky, Ph.D., an expert on happiness and the author of three books on the subject including, The How of Happiness: A Scientific Approach to Getting the Life You Want, will address this topic.

Stressed Teens and Parents

Stress is part of life, but too much is dangerous for both our physical and mental health. Unfortunately, we often don’t recognize stress in our kids and in ourselves. Watch the Stressed Teens and Parents webinar, featuring Dr. Lynette Danylchuk, an expert on the subject, will discuss how to recognize and mitigate stress and associated behaviors. Dr. Danylchuk will be joined by Monta Vista Principal Ben Claunitzer and Monta Vista School-based Therapist Richard Prinz, who will discuss Monta Vista’s work in supporting students; and Monta Vista parent, Jaya Rupanagunta, who will share her family’s story.
